Warranty & After-Sales Support

Marine Propulsion Experts supplies marine engines, generator sets and related equipment for recreational and commercial vessels. Warranty coverage is confirmed for the specific equipment supplied, taking account of its manufacturer, model, condition, intended application and destination.

This page explains how warranty information is provided, the requirements that may apply and how to request assistance.

Warranty Coverage for Your Purchase

The warranty offered with your equipment will be identified in your quotation or order documentation before purchase. The applicable written terms specify the warranty provider, coverage period, operating-hour limits, covered components and any installation, commissioning or registration requirements.

Manufacturer warranties differ between brands and models. Recreational, commercial, charter, rental and other applications may have different terms. Please disclose the intended use and installation country when requesting a quotation.

Any additional warranty expressly offered by Marine Propulsion Experts will be documented separately. This page does not establish a uniform warranty period for all products.

Warranty Periods and Start Dates

Warranty periods are governed by the terms applicable to the supplied product. Where coverage has both a time limit and an operating-hour limit, it ends when the first limit is reached, as specified in those terms.

The start date may depend on delivery, commissioning, first use or another event defined by the warranty provider. Manufacturing, shipment and storage dates may also affect eligibility.

Some warranties provide broader protection initially and cover only selected components in later years. An advertised extended period does not necessarily include the same parts, labour or expenses throughout. Repairs and replacement parts remain subject to the duration rules in the applicable warranty.

New, Unused and Reconditioned Equipment

The condition of the equipment and the warranty offered with it will be stated in the order documentation.

For new and unused stock, manufacturer warranty eligibility may depend on the original supply channel, equipment age, storage history, inspection and registration. Unused condition alone does not establish the coverage available.

Factory-remanufactured, independently reconditioned and used equipment may carry different warranties. The relevant manufacturer, rebuilder or other warranty provider and its written terms will be identified for the supplied unit.

Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance

Equipment must be installed, commissioned, operated and maintained in accordance with its applicable instructions and warranty requirements.

Where required by the manufacturer, pre-delivery inspection, commissioning, registration or warranty repairs must be completed through an authorised dealer or approved service provider.

Follow the maintenance schedule for your exact engine or generator. Retain purchase documents, installation and commissioning records, operating-hour records and service receipts. Use the fuels, lubricants, coolants and replacement components specified or permitted by the manufacturer.

Operation must remain within the approved rating and application. Notify us before purchase if the equipment will be used commercially, for charter or rental, or under another duty different from its advertised application.

Covered Repairs and Associated Costs

Subject to eligibility and the applicable terms, a warranty may provide repair, replacement or another specified remedy for defects in materials or workmanship.

Coverage for diagnosis, labour, technician travel, freight, removal and reinstallation varies by product and warranty stage. These costs are included only where the applicable warranty or a separate written agreement provides for them.

Routine servicing, normal wear and scheduled replacement of consumables are generally separate from defect coverage. Where a covered failure damages a service item or requires its replacement, reimbursement is determined under the applicable warranty.

Limitations and Exclusions

Depending on the applicable warranty, coverage may exclude damage caused by incorrect installation, unsuitable fuel or fluids, inadequate maintenance, operation outside the approved rating, water ingress, overheating, accidents, unauthorised modifications or other external causes.

The cause of failure, rather than the symptom alone, is relevant to assessing coverage. Claims involving modifications, replacement parts or work performed outside the manufacturer’s service network are assessed under the applicable terms and law.

Corrosion protection, where offered, has its own scope and conditions. Towing, loss of use, loss of income, vessel access costs and other incidental or consequential expenses are covered only where the applicable terms or law provide for them.

How to Request Warranty Assistance

Contact Marine Propulsion Experts with your invoice or order number, product model, serial number, current operating hours, installation or commissioning date, equipment location and a description of the problem. Include available fault codes, photographs and relevant maintenance records.

If continued operation could cause further damage or create an unsafe condition, stop using the equipment and seek appropriate technical assistance.

We will help identify the applicable warranty provider, claim process and supporting documents. Manufacturer warranty claims may require inspection and approval by the manufacturer or its authorised service network.

Before arranging chargeable repairs for which you intend to claim reimbursement, obtain any approval required by the warranty provider. Retain removed parts and supporting evidence until you receive handling instructions.

Inspections, Repairs and Returns

Inspection and repair arrangements depend on the product, its location and the reported failure. The warranty provider may direct you to a local authorised service facility or approve another arrangement.

Obtain return instructions before sending equipment or parts. Responsibility for transport, travel, removal and reinstallation costs will be determined by the applicable warranty, any separately agreed terms and mandatory legal requirements.

Where inspection or repair falls outside warranty, the proposed work, charges and payment terms will be explained and agreed before chargeable work proceeds.

Extended Warranties and Transfers

Extended coverage and warranty transfers are available only where permitted by the relevant provider. They may require registration, an inspection, documented servicing, approval or an additional charge.

The scope and eligibility of any extension or transfer must be confirmed in writing. A change of owner, vessel use or installation country may affect the coverage available.

Your Legal Rights

Manufacturer warranties and any additional written store warranty operate alongside rights provided by applicable law.

Nothing in this page excludes or restricts statutory rights, remedies or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any applicable rights against Marine Propulsion Experts as the seller.
